With the 2-Port ExpressCard USB 3.0 card ECUSB3S22, 2 superspeed USB 3.0 ports are added to an ExpressCard-capable computer system. A 34 mm shape factor is used, which fits both in 34 mm and 54 mm slots. The ports are arranged side by side to make space for easy access.
Thanks to the support for UASP (USB Attached SCSI Protocol), this USB 3.0 controller is up to 70 % faster than a Conventional USB 3.0 (Note: A compatible operating system is required for UASP). With a more efficient protocol than the conventional USB (Bulk-only Transport), UASP technology optimizes the transmission through the simultaneous processing of several commands, so that the transmission speed increases significantly and the waiting times for data transmission are reduced. Improved Performance with UASP
UASP is supported under Windows 8, Server 2012 and Linux Kernel 2.6.3 or higher. In tests, UASP showed up to 70 % higher reading speed and 40 % higher writing speed compared to a conventional USB 3.0 in the case of peak performance.
In the test, Uasp also showed an 80 % reduction in the need for processor resources.
Test results were obtained with an Intel Ivy Bridge system, USB 3.0 additions from Startech.com, a UASP-capable Startech.com case and a SATA III Solid State Drive.
