The use of two hard drives in the form of a RAID network is widespread and popular thanks to many advantages. But if you want to use the advantages, you often have a look. Because not every mainboard is equipped with a RAID controller and laptops usually fall from the scope of the possibilities per se. This is where the ICY Box IB-RD3621U3 comes to help and effectively converts two 3.5 "SATA hard drives into a performant RAID network.
Either higher speed, reflection of the data for more failure safety, detection of the HDDs as individual drives or recognition of both hard drives as a large drive. In particular, striping (RAID 0) is fueled by the modern USB 3.0 connection - here transmission rates are up to 5 GBit per second possible. Lower operating temperatures, through the active cooling in the form of a 6 cm low noise fan, are rewarded by the hard drives with longer lifespan.
