Microsoft chose the name One because the platform was to conquer the market as an all-in-one console. It can be used not only for video games, but also for television, surfing and many other activities. Further functions are simply retrofitted with apps.

The first release in Europe took place on November 22, 2013. Since August 2016 there is also the Xbox One S, which offers better image quality and resolutions up to 4K. In November 2017, the Xbox One X was finally added, which comes with more powerful hardware. Meanwhile the game console works with an adapted Windows 10 operating system and Cortana is also available as a language assistant.

A big advantage of the Xbox One is the backwards compatibility to Xbox 360 games. So you can play many titles from your predecessor on the console and don't need another device. Microsoft has also released the Elite Controller, an improved version of the standard controller. It offers interchangeable analog sticks and control crosses, but also allows individual key assignment via app.

Also available for the Xbox One is of course Kinect, which is already known from the Xbox 360. In the second version the resolution has been increased to 1080p and the included microphone is primarily used for voice chat and other functions.
