The specification for Bluetooth 4.0 was adopted in 2009 and thus represents another version of the standard for wireless transmission. With Bluetooth, many devices and accessories can be interconnected, which is why Bluetooth 4.0 is also integrated in various devices. With us you get both peripherals as well as computers, notebooks and other systems with Bluetooth.

A major innovation in Bluetooth 4.0 is the low energy component, which allows a reduction in power consumption. In addition, the time for establishing a connection and transmitting data is lower. However, the devices involved must all support low energy to take advantage of it.

All other components of Bluetooth 4.0, however, are backwards compatible. So you can even devices of lesser versions, easily with a Bluetooth 4.0 device pair. So if you already have the necessary accessories, you can safely put on a notebook or other system with the wireless interface.

Bluetooth 4.0 has been widely used since about 2011, with Android, for example, only providing support from version 4.3, which was released in 2013. If necessary, therefore, it must also be checked whether the respective operating system already controls Bluetooth 4.0 and not just the hardware.
